When You Wish Upon A Star
December 12, 2011
'Snow way', we hear you cry! It's not time for our annual journey to Lapland is it. It is indeed!
We were filming for the childrens charity, ‘When You Wish Upon A Star’, who take 300 very ill children to Lapland each December to meet the real Santa Claus. The journey begins at a bleary eyed 4am when everyone arrives at the airport to board a plane headed for Rovaniemi, the home town of Santa.
On arrival in Lapland everyone experiences the wonders of the magical forest, with husky rides, reindeer trails, hot chocolate with toasted marshmallows, sledging and a good old snowball fight! Then it’s off to Santa’s hotel for dinner and entertainment by the Elf band. Once dinner is over Rudolf brings along Santa on his sleigh to meet all the children.
And finally, it’s a trip to the Arctic Circle and Santa’s Village to meet the Elves who are busy in the post office sorting letters from children all over the world!
Accompanied by BBC presenter Blair Jacobs in temperatures of a chilly -10 celsius, the trip also featured celebs from TV shows Emmerdale, Holby City and Loose Women.
The film is currently in the edit suite so we can’t show you any of the footage, but to warm you all up, you can view our Barbados Island Safari, above.
